Boosting Q, and GMT advice?
-
I got an RS Poppy mare who is PERFECT! Hom sty AND DP, and now I'm regretting that I didn't make her a boy. So, is it worth it to make her a stallion? Would people be interested in using for stud fees?
As for boosting, how many boosts would it take to get this B papered (XPerf) horse A papered? Does each 1% cost 1 GMT? Would an a papered hom DP hom sty foundation interest anyone? And, would it prevent foals from passing BA?
I'll link the horse in question -
Sorry, posted by my alt. Here's the mare:

A 5% boost will cost you 200 ivs. Each 1% is 50 ivs, you need 5% to get to A, so it's cheaper to buy one 5 than multiple 1s.Known as Seaswell on HJ1(237808) & HJ2(45120)

To avoid foals spayed by breeding advice you would need to breed him to low Blue mares once he’s boosted. If folks are wanting to “breed even” foundation to foundation there are not going to be many mares that match him.
Personally I don’t care about the “even breeding” as much as I care about trying to match the breeding ability/paper level.
I’d she were mine and I felt like she was perfect for what I wanted I’d change her to a stud, but probably wouldn’t bother with the boosting.Ramshorn Ranch

I use boosted foundation boys with red papered foundation girls and have good pass rates- probably a little less than what you’d have with a non boosted stud but since my focus is on breeding quality, it doesn’t matter if I have a few less foals passing SBA. I do make sure the stud has a full mare book as it is a bit of a numbers game. The more foals you have the more likely something will pass.
I do match papers/generation from there on out (and watch very closely for mare lag in 3-6th generation).
Breeding is subjective- some people stay far away from any darkening genes, others can’t get enough. What is popular one day is gone with the wind the next. If she is perfect in every other way and only needs the 1 gmt to tweak, go for it or if she needs more work but would be your perfect dream stud with those tweaks, you can evaluate whether it is cost effective to wait until another horse with those desired genes come along and make as a stud or go ahead and adjust the mare to match your vision.
Good luck!! Always so fun when they pop out with DP and 2 copies at that!!TheBlueMoors ID 78

Just want to say that TheBlueMoors is giving very solid advice here. I will add if you boost a stud it will always give you better foals than if you had not boosted them. Many people make the mistake of assuming more intact foals means better. It does not.Need to contact me? Read this first.
