Is KIT and extension still following linkage principles on HaJ?
-
Basically the question in the title haha. Just wondering because we were discussing it in the chat and when we were looking at examples of black roans (Ee aa Rn_) where the roan was linked to the dominant E, the foals were inheriting roan even when the sire was passing down recessive e and it was happening frequently enough and with other examples of studs and their progeny that I was wondering if something had gotten tweaked.
If anyone is able to provide some insight on this, it would be HUGELY appreciated! Thank you so much!TheBlueMoors ID 78

They are linked. If you have a question about a specific horse make sure and post the horse. :)Need to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

Curious! Okay I went and looked for some examples.
Dr Khaki 8 This guy's roan is linked to his dominant E
These are just 2 of his foals:
Dr Blue Ribbon Babe This is one I would have expected based on the sire's linkage
Dr Faceless This is one I would not have expected because the sire's recessive extension doesn't have roan linked to it
The rest of the offpsring are similar, some blue roans, some bay roans, some red roans out of non roan mares.
Me being me (hahah), I started wondering if maybe I was overthinking it and went and looked at studs that carried both roan and tobiano- this stud for example:
Excellent ETA His dominant E is linked to tobiano and his recessive e is linked to roan
These 2 offpspring followed the expected linkage:
VO Dazzling Darling E and tobiano passed from sire
VO Leafy Lines e and roan poassed from sire
then there is this guy (also by the same sire)
1017190 E and roan
VO Starlight Shot E and roan
It was happening frequently enough that I was beginning to doubt myself about the concept of linkage and don't want to spread incorrect information :) Or if this is indeed link breakage happening and something that can be reasonably expected at times. Thank you so much for your input Ammit!TheBlueMoors ID 78

I did some looking into it and it looks like this broke a little while ago when we made improvements to speed up the breeding script. I will add this to the bug list.Need to contact me? Read this first.
