Breeding Goals?
-
Hey y’all!
What’s everybody’s breeding goals/ advice?
I really have no clue what I want to breed for.. and looking for some inspiration!
For the most part I’ve got it figured out I need to build a show pony army, keep pointed creates, etc.
Also, what defines a “good” pointed horse and a “poor” pointed horse? And should I be selling the pointed creates that are less than stellar PT / Inconsistent?
Im honestly kinda a newbie when it comes to settling down and breeding to further my stable / finances.
I started out playing just breeding for pretty things not caring about showing but now I wanna buckle down and get my stable in order.
I own a lot of Era 2 horses if anybody can explain to me the perks of keeping all horses within an Era.
Thank you! -
There are so many things to breed for, as you mention. The leaderboards focus on a few things. (1) the stallion who made the most foals. (2) the mare that made the most foals. (3) the highest PT of a foal. (4) the most points earned by a second gen horse and (5) the most points earned by a foundation horse. I might be missing one. Anyway—these categories exist in every color and size breeders club. You can imagine that older players/more established horses have an advantage. Therefore, a third breakdown is added: eras. Era 3 just started this month. All non exceptional creates are now part of era 3. Exceptional creates and most horses created in the last year are era 2. Sounds like you’ve got a lot of era 1. All of those era 1 horses compete in the era 1 breeders club. A foal inherits the lowest era of both parents. In short, eras are just another breeders club. (And the one I’m focusing on.)

I created a new account recently to play with pointed creates. For my pointed show ponies I only create either perfect foundations or exceptionally perfect for a PT of at least 9.90 or 10.40 and consistant.
I haven't done a ton of breeding on that account yet, but in general I also aim for above a 9.90 and consistent for my lined show ponies. A horses breeding ability is judged by the breeding advice test and the breeding inspection (or papering) which you can only do with a basic upgrade, but I highly recommend it. A good breeding horse can produce horses with good breeding ability or good showing ability or both if your lucky!
Your individual breeding goals will change over time, but I like to breed for both color and quality. I breed dark chestnut based riding horses and ponies. All my lines are "evenly" bred and superior to the previous generation. My current goal is to work on being more prominent in the color breeding clubs. You can get awarded GMTs if your horses place in breeding clubs well which is a huge incentive!
