From the description for Platinum: The platinum gene completely removes yellow tones from a horse's coat and heavily reduces red tones while leaving dark tones intact.

I did not think about tobiano doing that, and I have even had foals do exactly what you’re talking about. So maybe I should have just swapped the W20 for W8 when I first started! I probably need to remove the TO I added and maybe then I will have a little color!

This chimera of mine has hom Lp on both strands along with sabino and Rabicano. You can see how even with minimal and medium white factor, the stripes make her look mostly white.


SB Hidden Gates

This one is a patchy chimera with minimal and light white factor. The minimal side left most of the color and the light side lost most of it, so she looks tobiano but she's actually sabino/w20 and splash on both strands!


SB G1H Clean Slate

Adding genes is always a bit of a gamble the first time. I've had a few that i immediately removed something and hated it, or added something and hated it. When i put diamond sparkle on a silver pocket watch the first time i held my breath!

It's part of the learning experience. Ammit is good at helping with these.

Ok to address a gene issue like this the best thing to do is to do some searching for similar horses. Mesa is small so that is thought but Bluegrass had several similar horses and the issue is definitely that this horse has way too many white genes stacked on it.

You said you love w8 so I left that on. That got his white markings down. It looks like you picked a super pale buckskin though. Platinums can look like chinchillas if you give them nothing to work with. I added 1 copy of sooty to give him some color.

If you want to him even darker you could remove the cream or add more darkening genes. :)

Other people already told her it had too many white genes stacked on it. I didn't have time to do a deep dive looking for things in the search as examples so I posted the fast version from bluegrass. I didn't have time because I was helping her by editing her horse for her and answering PMs from other players . Scolding me when I fixed her horse for her seems really rude.

I apologize, as I didn’t mean to scold. I think what you did was great. That wasn’t what I was trying to say and I’m sorry I was unclear.

I’m more thinking of the “how do we learn as new players” and it seems like often the answer is found on another server. My thought process was that this is the new player server but often the knowledge is elsewhere. I don’t know how to bridge that gap but I’ve noticed it now that I’m active on another server.

You are great. My whole point was looking on another server is seems counterintuitive to me, especially when new players are directed to this server. Last I checked I couldn’t even make an account on bluegrass because it was full, so I wouldn’t be able look for examples. If I can search without having an account, I don’t know how.

I hope this makes more sense. The last thing I want to do is scold anyone for helping. I’m just saying I can’t go look for examples like is being suggested.
