bad apples
  • i kinda feel bad for Dorris....

    any one else get a bad apple>?

    ++++++++++++++++

    Well, you tried to get your horse in for the Performance test but, it kicked the trailer the whole time, screamed and in general made a fool of its self. Then it reared up and bolted before you could even get it into the ring! Good thing Dorris could did not see it. Let's just say your horse is bad. Real bad. I think Dorris would have had a heart attack.

  • I’ve never seen a solid 0 before! I’d say she’s pretty special just for that. ;)
  • I've had a couple of those that were Exceptional Producer creates. I sent them straight to the auction from there.
  • That's definitely the lowest PT I've seen! I know some people breed for the "wreck it" type horses

  • They do go into the negative numbers. But that's pretty rare.

  • I came to the forum to ask this question, and I see others talking about my issue. I am a real noob, so let me know if I need to post this some place else. I have several of these extremely low daily payouts. Several of them are the colors I wanted to breed; however, I am unsure if I should keep or sell. Does this pass onto the foals? I realize I am missing out on the hb's that another horse would provide, which is important too. Thanks so much!

  • @ChapelHillFarm it's pretty much determined by how you want to play. Those low scoring show horses might be great breeders, or they might have the colors you want. Just remember that breeding ability and showing ability are not related to each other. Some horses are high in both (for their generation) and some are higher in one than the other. If you have an upgrade you can run the various tests to see how the foals turn out, and make your decisions based on the average scores of those foals.

    Some folks like to breed the worst of the worse, just for giggles. They want horses with low PT scores who have the potential to do a lot of damage.

  • @ChapelHillFarm I have a mare in my brood string that only has a PT of 5. She fits the colors I want for that particular program, and usually throws good foals. So far, all but one of her foals has a PT of 10+, one as high as 10.80. I say if she fits what you are looking for, give her a shot. :)
  • Pretty sure I have all y'all beat
