Hello, nice to meet you all!
-
Hello! New player here!
Horses are the reason why I’m an artist today! I wanted to capture their beauty through art and have been drawing them since I was six years old. -
Hi Mackenzecutler19! Welcome to the game! Hi DarkFate! Welcome. We'd love to see some of your art, if you would like to share.

Hi, SugarLanding! Let us know if you have any questions. Things can seem pretty overwhelming to start!

Hello!
-
Hi Ember! Welcome to the game. We are in the middle of our Summer Gift Exchange, so things are a bit hectic right now, but in a GOOD way! :)

Hello! Slowly getting the hang of it.
-
What’s the difference of the currency and the points? I see I get points from the shows? What do I use those for?
-
Hi Chilli! Welcome to the game! The points accumulate as your horse shows and every day you get bonus cash based on the number of points you have (total). There is a spot on your horses main page that shows how much each horse adds to that total.
ConfluenceStable- HJ1 ID#235298 * ConfluenceFarms- HJ2 ID#1998 * ConfluenceRanch- HJ3 ID#15 -
Oh cool. That makes sense. Thank you!
-
Could you also explain to me what “current lifetime payout” means on the horse main page? There’s a substantial amount of currency there but I don’t remember getting that.
-
-
Current lifetime payout is an estimate of how much the horse will make over its entire lifespan, if it is trained and shown at every opportunity.

Ohhh. Thank you so much!
-
Oh whoops. Forgot a to change accounts.
-
I actually did it twice. Dang.
-
What the heck. I’m not on that account.
-
I’ve heard using mobile can sometimes be tricky about account switching. I think maybe if you have to make sure all your tabs are closed from one account in order to log into another.ID:3258

LOL! You need to log out using the link at the bottom of the left menu. The one on the top of the page logs you out of the FORUM. The other one logs you out of the GAME. Believe me, we ALL do it! :P

Did it work now?
-
Oh there we go. I actually had a bunch of tabs open. Also I logged out on another button. Thanks guys!

How long do y’all go between checking the game? I found it on a fb ad yesterday and haven’t been able to put it down. I’m wondering if I’m missing something or if I just gotta be patient while starting out xD
-
I’m not sure how it works but I saw Ammit had shared a herd helper and this is the stallion I got. He’s so handsome!

Welcome to Hunt & Jump addicts anonymous, @chilli! Some of us check in several times a day, and some folks just pop in every couple of days. We've had people who got pulled away by real life stuff and couldn't sign on for a month or more, and they are able to just start right up again. That's part of what makes this game so nice!
ConfluenceStable- HJ1 ID#235298 * ConfluenceFarms- HJ2 ID#1998 * ConfluenceRanch- HJ3 ID#15 -
That’s cool. I can’t believe I found this on a fb ad. How long have y’all been playing? And what’re you breeding for if anything specific?
-
Hey @chilli ! Be sure to post in this thread for a little extra cash to get you started!

I started playing April 2020 but there are some players here that have been playing since the beginning which was over 14 years ago! It's a great community of people and a low stress, fun, rewarding game with a bonus of teaching you a lot about RL genetics.
I breed dark red based (ee, sty/sty DP/DP) riding horses with a sprinkle of fantasy genes. Here are a few of my favorites foundations!
LH1 Heat Waves
LH1 Now Sparkle
This last girl was a gift from the most recent gift exchange (which is also a ton of fun!) She is my new absolute favorite and will be getting a few other goodies (most definitely satin) soon!

Hello! Oh what beautiful creatures you have. Thank you for sharing. I’ll check out that other thread.
How long did it take you to find out what you wanted to breed? I’m not sure yet. I just want em big :p -
I made a bunch of mates so I could breed some new foals. I wanted more chimeras. And look what I got in the first goal I checked! Thanks so much for helping me out. This is so exciting.

I can’t figure out how to get more barns or stables. I got some automated ones but I can’t seem to figure out how to buy more.
-
You have to buy extra barns. You can either save up your HBs and buy them that way, or you can pay real life money. Go to the Upgrades section on the left side menu to check out the prices.

Hello! I’m brand new, started today.
I’ve loved horses since I was a kid, but could never afford to own my own. I’ve taken lessons and ridden trails but that’s it. I would love to have my own horses, but that will take time.
I am a veterinary technician and love my job. I work in an ER/ICU at a specialty hospital and see all sorts of cases. I don’t often get to see puppies and kittens like I did when I worked in a general practice but I love the challenge of emergency work.
We own a sanctuary farm and have goats, pigs, chickens and turkeys. We also have three dogs, Norah (rescued Black Mouth Cur mix, dark brindle, 6yo and always getting into things), Pru (rescued Chow x American Bulldog mix, tan with white markings, 2yo and my love) and Magnolia (5mo Great Pyrenees); a rescue tabby cat Sage who is 11yo and the best girl; a rescued bearded dragon named Tarni & last but not least a rescued rabbit named Peanut.
Some things I’m having trouble figuring out in the game:
- how to breed
- how to earn HBs
- how to determine which horses are worth keeping and which are worth selling
Thank you for reading!
All my love,
CypressHollow -
Hello fellow newbie!
I’ve found a lot of good info in the faq tab. Did you check that out? I’m on day 4 and I still go back to read stuff I missed or forgot.
-
Welcome CypressHollow! It sounds like you have a TON of real life critters to keep you busy! Fortunately, this game allows for 'busy real life', and if you miss a day or so there won't be a huge impact on your barn!
Let us know if you have any questions! Chilli has been asking some really good ones, so far! If you don't have a problem with larger groups, feel free to post on the forum, too. That way more people can see your questions and you may find someone who was too shy to ask and will be really grateful!

It seems I can’t put my horses into to shows. I saw yesterday I couldn’t and thought I just forgot I already did. But tonight it isn’t turned either. Aren’t they supposed to be a daily thing?
-
This lady might be my best creation yet. She’s so beautiful. I’m scared of testing her and have her spayed.

@chilli horses can only shoe twice a week! Also that mare is a rank special herd helper (Vault of Stars). All rank specials are a minimum of a Perfect Foundation and will always pass breeding advice with a 9.90 performance score (PT).
Some rank specials are Exceptionally Perfect which makes them even better breeders and show performers.
You can check out all of the rank specials and other herd helpers (HH) here!
https://mesa.huntandjump.com/herdhelpers.php -
Ohhh! Twice a week. That makes way more sense now haha.
Thank you for explaining again :)) -
Oh my goodness that makes everything easier with leaving horses in the pasture. I’m getting so smart. Next is I need to actually learn these genetic abbreviations :))
-
Chilli, if you hover your cursor over the gene name on the horses main page it tells you what the gene does. If you click the gene (the underlined part) it takes you to the gene description page.

Ooo I’m gonna have to check the whole thing out when I get my computer set up. We’ve been moving all week and I’m on mobile. Thanks \:D/

Hello. I'm Ren and I'm a 3D character/creature artist and illustrator for video games and animation.
I've been around horses all my life and rode competitively from 8 years old to about 20. I am a C2-HB certified member of the USPC and mostly competed in eventing, dressage, and jumpers with my bay dun mustang x thoroughbred. I still have him, but we mostly just play around now as he's 22 years old (don't tell him that though). I also have a quarter horse mare but she's mostly a pasture ornament due to irreconcilable differences in our opinions on her attitude, lol. I also have a dog, a newfoundlandx??? or something - basically just a big doof. He's a rescue and he's the goodest boy, thank you very much.
I've always been obsessed with horse coat colors and in my freshman year of college I finally sat down to learn the logic of their genetics. I've been hooked ever since and nearly changed majors as a result. I'm glad I stuck to what I'm doing though. I can find ways to include my interests in a creative environment. This also coming from the fact that I almost went to vet school but decided against it in favor of art. All that context informs pretty much all of my personal projects now. I joined the game a couple of weeks ago and it's feeding my addiction to equine genetics.
My other hobbies include paleoart, reading, writing, and probably more than I'm currently recalling. My interests vary wildly. Feel free to contact me -- I can be a bit asocial at times (read: quiet, lurking), but I'm friendly and I promise I don't bite all that often.
I have a few questions about the game that I've come across and I may bring them up at some point as they occur to me. Currently, I'm wondering how horse shows are technically judged? What measurable factors determine the outcome of a horse show? I know it's related to Performance Test scores and the subsequent acquisition of points in training. So that's another question I have. When training, how are levels of the horse determined? (I do understand if my question about the rules dictating the outcome of horse shows goes unanswered -- the mystery allows for a sense of an uncertain outcome and prevents game breaking min-max strategies.)
Also, breeder clubs -- when a horse gets an award for placing in a category, does that occur at the end of the year? What is the reward for placement? Is it something quantifiable (hbs, etc) or just a record?
Thank you for creating the game. There's been a great deal of effort dedicated to it, I can tell. I'm excited to see where this projects goes in the future and to start contributing to the community as I can.
- RenI don't always check forums, so send me a private message if you need to poke at me about something. I'm happy to talk.

Hello Ren!
-
What do y’all do with your different barns? Like are they themed or do you just chuck everything in where there’s room?
-
Welcome Renegade! We don't know the criteria for tie breakers in the show classes. I know people have tried to figure it out in the past, but it's just one of those things the creator/owner (Ammit) keeps to herself. The individual classes are not near as important as the overall number of points a horse earns by their placement in a class, though. Lots of players (me included) don't really pay attention to their show barns. I have @2500 show horses on my main, Forest Server account. I just keep replacing the ones I've lost due to age with my new foals and the occasional auction find. TRAINING is pretty important, however, since that is what increases the scores in each class with the goal of higher placements, and therefore more points.
Breeders clubs awards go out at the end of each game "year", in other words, once a month at the end of the month (rollover). The top 10 in each category get ribbons, but nothing else tangible. Mostly the reward is bragging rights. Some people may also use the breeding horse rankings when shopping for a stallion or mare to breed, or breed to.

@Chilli, there was a really informative thread on the main forums of one of the other servers in the past couple weeks, about sorting horses into barns. I will see if I can find it.
