Show/Training Question
-
Hey everyone. I feel like I should definitely know the answer to these questions but couldn’t find them on the guides and just want to make sure I’m correct.
Do pasture mares get trained weekly *in the pasture* with a premium account? Or do they need to be removed to train like they need to be removed to show?
Do you show your Foals or do you wait Until 2 to start showing?
Bonus Questions
At what age do you first Cull altered horses and what is your requirements at that age?
Do you have a minimum PT score to keep altered horses or do you keep everything? Do you keep inconsistent horses?ID# 1180 -
-I assume they get trained, but I’m not sure about this one
-yes
-10 years old. I don’t cull if I still have space. If I don’t, then I start auctioning them by lowest total points. I don’t have the patience to look at each horse if they’re leveled off and stuff. Just 10+ years and total points.
-I don’t care about PT. I will sometimes cull horses with low low PT if they also have low total points, but those are rare. I keep inconsistent. They earn the same.DarkPhoenix #15470 (she/her) ~ Premium Upgrade

Some of my altered show horses that have won me GMTs are Inconsistent showers. I'd keep them as you might be throwing away good earners.**Wensum Valley Ponies**

Anyone have any Idea on the pasture Training Question?ID# 1180 -
@Arayla As long as you have an upgraded account (Premium or Basic) the horses should train automaticallyAmberHaven300 (she/her)

I show all of my horses that are not in a pasture. Even the foals.
Bonus Questions

I go through show horses that I saved specifically for futurity horses once they have aged out of the futurity program at age 6. I compare how well they are doing vs. the other horses of the same age and era and axe anything that is on the low end points wise.
All remaining show horses I look at towards the end of the month when they are 10 years old. They have to have 500+ points by then to stay.
Do you have a minimum PT score to keep altered horses or do you keep everything? Do you keep inconsistent horses?
I do not keep anything below 10.0. I only keep inconsistent horses if they are futurity eligible. This is just my personal preference. There really is no reason not to keep inconsistent horses. Earnings wise they can earn the same as a consistent horse throughout their life. If I was a young account I would focus more on total points, PT, etc. before I culled based on consistency.Ramshorn Ranch
