The new Ranch Horse BC has arrived!
-
I know several of you are already rocking this BC, I just have been slow to get this post out.
From my video earlier this month:
We have long had members asking for foundation style quarter horses but I decided to take things in a slightly more inclusive and historical direction. Long before the days of breed registries back in the 15 and 16 hundreds the Spanish brought horses to North America and founded vast cattle ranches. Over time the Spanish vaquero became the Cowboy and an entire culture around cattle and horses crystallized.
This highly racially and culturally diverse group of horsemen needed reliable stock that could carry them for months in deep backcountry. The horses needed durability for rough terrain, the temperament and agility to push around cattle and the reliability to always have your back. There was no greater companion on the range for a cowboy than his ranch horse.
Back then they had no concept of breeds, they just knew what horses did the job, and so a blend of Spanish, Native American and English Breeding lines all merged together to create this deeply American hybrid horse perfect for ranch life. This basal type of horse has gone on to produce a number of breed registries, and a wide range of showing styles, many completely divorced from these ranch horse origins. The ranch horse is still a vital working animal though, throughout much of the United States.

The Ranch Horse can be unlocked on the "Unlock Additional BCs" page and is already available to those of you with BC subscriptions.
I would love to see your Ranch horse examples. Please post below!Need to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )
