I think I've hit that twice in the two 1/2 years I've been playing. Usually during sea pony fishing month in the summer when I'm creating 250 horses a day all month long.

250 is the maximum you can create in a day. When you get to sea pony fishing time in the summer the bigger accounts that have the barn space and finances will do that to get a better chance at creating more sea ponies which can be turned in for GMTs like a candy pony. For the most part I will auction all 250 so that I have barn space to create again the next day.

Here's an example of a sea pony. They're only possible to create in June when summer festivities start and sea pony fishing time is active.

It looks like you just barely joined this month (congrats!), so you missed out on the candy pony fun in October. The good thing is that candy ponies come around again in December. During candy pony months there is a chance that random creates can show up with a candy colored coating, like a candy cane or candy corns. They can be redeemed for GMTs, and the candy coating goes away. Usually during candy time in October and December you have a random chance of creating 1 per day.

They are used for maxing, and changing genes. They can only be used to max certain eras. The newer eras you can only max using IVs.
