SEEKING - show horses
-
I’ve just read someone’s comment about them being a medium sized barn who brings in over 100,000hbs a day and I’ve decided I need to get some more show horses.
I bring in 10,000ish hbs a day & I thought this was good hahaha! :)
I have NEVER focused on show horses as I didn’t want them taking my barn space up, but now I’ve got room within my budget to be able to purchase a barn for show horses I need to buy some.
Does anyone have any that they’d be willing to part with? Thanks! -
I’d prefer mares that are also not spayed (just so I can use them as embryo transfer mares at the same time) but honestly I won’t say no to anything unless they’re mega expensive!

What I do is I have 3-4 studs (I have more right now because my better ones are getting old and my barn is ready for some new blood). When I breed my 60 horse pasture, I set a minimum PT. Any mares above this PT will replace the mares in my pasture with the worst AFPT. So then, when I breed all these foals, I just spay all blue fillies and gold fillies who don't meet the bar. I then geld all the colts except the ones (on average, there's 1 or 2 of them per season) who exceed the highest PTs of the few studs I use for breeding. That way, I end up with about 35% of the season's crop as new broodmares, 1% as new studs, and about 59-60% new show ponies. That's how I keep my daily income increasing. Idk, just some ideas. :D❥ Flips / Stella! She/Her.

You should always be focusing on show horses. They are your income, not selling horses or anything. I think the ideal is around 3-5 show horses for EVERY breeder. Spayed/gelded horses are best for showing because they train better -> more points -> more money. If you want embryo implant mares, you could just create some foundies and then auction them when you’re done, but that’s just what I do.
The easiest way to “make” show horses is basically what Flips said. Set a standard, breed your horses, and whatever doesn’t pass, into a show barn they go. I SBA everything, which usually spays/gelds most of the foals that I just bred. Those go to the show barn, and I look through the rest of the foals to find ones that don’t pass my standards. I always have too many stallions, so I have a minimum PT, and will either geld or auction the ones that don’t pass. If you can still make pointed horses, make sure to use perfect/exceptional herd helpers, as those will have the highest lifetime payout (because of their PT). Foals will likely give you a few more years of hbs than 4 yr olds. Spay/geld those pointed horses and put them in a show barn. I go through the auction a couple times a week to find pointed horses to bid on. But, altering your foals is the easiest and cheapest way to build up your show herd. It may be a little slow at first, but those foals will keep earning points and new foals will keep coming.
Ok, long rant over, I’ll be sending you some stuff through RAoG :)DarkPhoenix #15470 (she/her) ~ Premium Upgrade

Thank you guys! I’ve been registered on the game for a few years but only “properly” started playing in the last 12-18 months. By properly I mean more than just doing pasture breeding lol. Any tips are greatly welcomed and received!
Thank you for the horses DP! -
I sent you a stud at cap with high PT to start a bootstrap herd. I’m running out the door so hopefully someone else can explain bootstrapping. :)
-
Oh thank you so much SummerMonarch! I really appreciate that!

Theres a vague explanation of bootstrapping at the bottom of the chart. If that doesn’t make sense, I can explain, just let me know!
