I think it may just be bad luck. The higher you get in ability the harder it is to get anything to test superior. It might take 100 foals to get a few that test superior so 35 may just not have been enough. If you are not maxing it takes a lot of mares to keep pushing the numbers up.

Well, era 4 shouldn't be a limited line. It should already be past primary era. It's just a fluke that we happen to be moving the eras forward that it's running into the issue. Once we are done moving the primary era forward those fully established lines won't be subject to any restrictions.

It might be that we need to remove primary eras from the limited eras. I want to at least wait this season to see how it feels.

It's set up right now to be all primary eras are limited or none. Can't really do one and not the other as things are now.

Era 5 is already at cap so I am not sure there is much reason to limit it but not 4. Some members are a month behind in era 4 because they did not take advantage of the edge from uneven breeding, but that is mute with all eras going forward. I can see a reason to limit 4 and 5 or just 6 and 7 but not really a good reason to limit 5,6 and 7.

In December era 6 will be the only primary era.

For some more math gen 5 was just born for era 6.
In August gen 6 will be born.
In October gen 7 will be born that will be when the maxed-out lines will hit cap quality.
So by December the cap quality horses will be hitting breeding age right when they turn over into the primary.

Once we have hit cap there is not a ton of reason to protect those eras anymore. maxing stops having any competition benefit and just helps situations like you are in now were you are just trying to catch some stragglers up. Not trying to beat the LB.

If it was set up like that though there is no reason you could not wait until your 7th gens were 3 and no longer a limited era and then max 50 of them and sweep the lb. But then again you had to put in the focus to even get to that point.

I need to think out the repercussions a bit more.

Yes— I agree with your logic completely. My numbers/guesses were just off.

I think the primary era still needs to be restricted. Looking at Era 5 for example, if someone were to Max 10+ of their cap potential foals this season they would sweep the entire top 10 of the Top PT foals for the year leaderboard.

SummerMonarch era SIX not five will be hitting cap quality breeding age in December. By your post you just argued that era 5 should be leaving restriction right now.

So the reason I think five should still be limited is that I’ve been embryo window shopping in 5 and there aren’t a lot of horses I think can make *** foals for 4. Maxing in that era is still very much in play, I think?

Basically only the two most recent eras would be protected by my argument. That might not be bad. I don’t know.

It actually turned out to be super simple to shave off that older primary era so it no longer has any maxing limits. All primary eras will lose max out protections in the next few months once the cap quality horses reach breeding age.

So round about way to say, max away on those era 4 horses Summer. :)
