Crowdsourcing Planning: Best Era 6 Stud
  • So, as all of Mesa knows, Abhean and I are rumbling in era 4. She was kind to point out that our era 4 *** horses come from era 6. [1]

Fortunately we are two months into 6. Unfortunately I already decided I wanted to only lightly do 6 and see if I could do it mostly using outside stock. This plan, while fun, will not lead me to the best era 6 stud. [2]

I could wait, watch the era 6 leaderboards, buy an embryo or two at gen 8, max then, double boost them, and get an era 4 *** stud, but then it isn’t home grown. I’ve put a lot of effort into a home grown [3] era 4 and I’m not sure how I feel about this. For me and me alone and my playstyle alone, it feels like cheating. Like only doing half of the work— the mare side.

I could also just not have an era 4 *** stud but that seems like madness.

In closing, I hope someone in era 5 is breeding big non-fantasy drafts, because I have none of these concerns for era 3. :)

@bluemesa @thebluemoors and everyone else. I don’t care about the depth of your knowledge. We are just talking. [4] [5]
  • [1] Each time you boost a horse it goes down an era. To get the highest *** you need to boost 2 eras.

[2] Getting the best stud is part luck and part math. My advice is not to test against sire but against your best of the sire’s generation. It’s brutal. I then test against the best of the foal’s generation. Because I am so hard on my era 4 horses, and max most of them, they are really high quality. If I borrow horses, it is highly unlikely all of them will have gone through such quality control.

    [3] Heavy on the mostly.

[4] In truth this is just a ploy to ping Moors and get them to come back. :)

[5] Yes really this is how I think— with footnotes.
  • If you hurry and do some Era 6 work at the tail end of the breeding season here you are only 1 month behind. Also, since you're really planning to eventually merge this line into Era 4, I think you can safely disregard whether you're behind the other Era 6 breeders or not, and mostly worry about whether you are caught up to Abhean or not in your respective Era 6 lines.

One thing to think about. If you want to do very minimal Era 6 work it seems like it would be simple to just plan to max a small handful of stallions and mares each generation until you hit cap and you're ready to boost that cap herd down to Era 4.

There might be some snag that I'm not thinking about, but I would think you could get away with that.

  • Best of luck catching me!
Sorry not currently taking any request for egg/straw/horse sales. Everything I have for sale is already listed.
  • Honestly I feel like this is one of the best aspects of this server; bouncing ideas around and involving each other while maintaining a friendly competition in such a way that it doesn’t become overwhelming! :D

You are absolutely welcome to my Era 6 offspring, as I only plan on breeding a handful from each generation (and you are familiar with my methods of quality control); they will very likely be heavily inbred by G4 though.
  • The gifts you sent me will play a part in my era 6 project.
Sorry not currently taking any request for egg/straw/horse sales. Everything I have for sale is already listed.
  • Someone (looking good?) has a third gen single star era 1 (or something) stallion. If I wait until era 8, I can get a red/b pair, boost them, bred them, boost them, bred them, and then double boost those offspring.

But I really don’t think Abhean is just going to sit around and wait that whole time. :)
  • Me: I’m trying to not interbreed with Abhean’s horses.

  • I have zero issues with sharing lines and think it is nice too. I have your stock in my lines too. :x

  • I agree, normally, and your stock is gorgeous. But if I’m playing “keep up and sometimes pass you” and I use your stock to do it, well. It just doesn’t feel as satisfying. :)
  • This has actually drawn me and the hubby into bets =)) we have been watching the leader board all season because shockingly I actually have one and a few pt placers as well and we have been jokingly betting to see who wins outta Era 4 because of yall its been a blast laughing when one moves up or down

  • RideOutStar, does your husband also play? Super cool either way if he's at least interested. My husband just rolls his eyes when I'm playing "the horse game."

  • So does a 5% boost bump you up one full step? So if you have an Era 5 *Star, and boost twice, you're basically guaranteed a ***?
  • Ram my husband too :))
  • I am not sure how much a 5% boost would bump you paper level wise.

I do know you can only boost a horse a maximum of 5%. So you would have to boost the horse once, clone the boosted horse, then boost the clone to get the double 5% boost. Then remember each time you boosted you would drop an era.

Nope. Requires a ** to start to get to ***.
