What gives this horse the dapples, but also that pretty tan color?

The tan is a combination of dun and buckskin. The dapples are from the sooty+.

The nd1 and S+ is also helping contribute to the nice dark color on his top line. The Appaloosa might also be influencing his color slightly as appaloosa can have a bronzing type affect. Especially on manes and tails.

Ohh ok. I just thought that he looked really pretty, but I didn't know what the genes were. What does nd1 do?

It's an extremely reduced dun. Almost, but not entirely, no visible effect. There's an nd2 also but not in game because it basically just means no dun at all.

nd1 tends to give a faint shadow/darkening on the back and legs and lighten the rest of the coat a little. It's a favorite of mine.

Here's an example of nd1 on chestnut vs. a plain chestnut.
