Write a breed description, win that breed characteristic! Ends Tuesday Morning (July 25th)
-
I am running a quick contest to write the descriptions for the new breed characteristics. For each one, I need a roughly 250-character-long blurb about the real-life breed (about 3 sentences). It must be between 200 and 300 characters long. This is strictly enforced and I will toss out anything less than 200 or more than 300 characters.
Please use a Character Counter to confirm your length before posting.
https://wordcounter.net/character-count
I need a blurb about the Saddlebred, the *Friesian, and the Suffolk Punch.
*Please note that our Fresian is the modern style with a sport horse build, not the baroque version and not the crossbred version. Those would be future BC art types, please make your entries reflect the Modern Friesian.
-To enter simply post your blurb below. You can write for one or multiple of the breeds. You can enter as many times per breed as you want.
-I will only be picking one winner per breed across all three servers. (3 winners total) Winners will be picked Tuesday morning and will receive 5 BC tokens to unlock a new breed characteristic of their choice.
Thanks so much for sharing your creativity and breed knowledge with me.Need to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

Thanking about it, descriptions that cover what the breeds tend to look like, more than the breed history are probably the most helpful.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Saddlebreds show a well-shaped head with a straight profile, a long, slim, arched neck, well-defined withers, sloping shoulders, strong legs, and a level back with well-sprung ribs. The croup is level with a high-carried tail.
-
Friesians have well-chiseled, short-eared heads on long, arched necks. They have powerful sloping shoulders, compact muscular bodies, and strong, sloping hindquarters with low-set tails. Their limbs are comparatively short and strong ending in sound wide hooves.

Saddlebred:
The Saddlebred has an elegant and refined head with a kind eye. They have a long arching neck that slopes into a strong and muscular shoulder. The defined withers transition into the short, strong back with a level croup. Their legs are straight and correct with long, sloping pasterns. -
The Saddlebred is a light, elegant American horse with a sculpted appearance. Coming in every color, they have a graceful build, with a slender arched neck, sloped shoulders, short back, high set tail, straight profile, bright eyes, and a long and level croup.DarkPhoenix #15470 (she/her) ~ Premium Upgrade

I'm pants with Friesians and Saddlebreds but here is my entry for the Suffolk Punch!
The Suffolk Punch, the oldest English draft breed, is a sturdy and handsome draft. Built with powerful hindquarters, a short well-sprung body, and sloped shoulders suited for heavy harness work, the Suffolk Punch is a powerhouse with an energetic trot to efficiently complete draught work.

Suffolk Punch has a powerful, arching neck; well-muscled, sloping shoulders; a short, wide back; and a muscular, broad croup. Legs are short and strong, with broad joints; sound, well-formed hooves; and little or no feathering on the fetlocks. They tend to be shorter but more massively built.

24 hours left to enter. Here are my 3 current front-runner entries to help you gauge what I am looking for.
The Saddlebred has an elegant and refined head with a kind eye. They have a long arching neck that slopes into a strong and muscular shoulder. The defined withers transition into the short, strong back with a level croup. Their legs are straight and correct with long, sloping pasterns.
The modern Friesian is a majestic and powerful breed with a lighter type and warmblood-like movements. They have a muscular frame with flowing mane and tail, refined head, and expressive eyes. They often have an upright, rectangular appearance due to being longer in the leg and length of body.

I'm just a city kid with no horse knowledge, so I don't feel I should enter, but good luck to everyone!
I ADORE that fluffy little foal! So excited for the update. :o) -
The Suffolk Punch or Suffolk Sorrel
The Suffolk Punch received it’s name for its heavy stature as a heavy draft breed. The breed is known for its gentle, calm, and willing demeanor. This breed has a powerful arching neck, wide back, and is generally shorter then similar draft breeds. Making it one of the best pulling/work horses -
Winners have been chosen! Thank you so much to everyone who entered. All entries helped me build an understanding of what the right kind of description looked like.
