So I was wondering if it makes any difference for show lines or breeding whether your horses are era 5 or era 4?
Is there any advantage to one era over the other? Or does it matter if your breeding line consists of horses from different eras? Does it have any effect on being able to sell foals you don't want to keep?

Just looking for any advice really on what era I should focus on for showing or breeding, or if it even matters if I pick just one :)

The first thing I would consider is if you want to breed Perfect Foundations or Exceptionally Perfect/Producing. Era 5 is the current era so only includes Perfect Foundations. If you create an ExPro foundation right now it will come out as era 4.

Eras are most important in regards to the breeder clubs and futurities. Era 5 being the newest has the least amount of competition right now. In general though eras don't impact breeding/showing ability and definitely don't make your decision based on selling foals. Foals can be difficult to market and sell unless they have rare genes or are high quality showers or breeders.

No right answer here, but I do think era breeding for the breeder clubs is fun! :)

Hi. I play eras. (There is no right way to play.) This game is more fun (imo) if you have a large show herd because that gets you more horsebucks to blow on breeding. See the challenge? Breeding is fun but costs money and a show herd makes money.

Eras can matter for breeding (era clubs, which are fun) but really doesn’t matter for showing (except the era clubs but I’m not sure that’s what we are talking about.)

I have an era question. Please don’t let this question stress you out if you are a new player. I’m deep down a rabbit hole.

If I clone an era 1 foundation, do I get an era 1 foundation? Or do I have to clone a yellow era 1 foundie to get a era 1 and if I clone a red era 1 foundie I’ll get an era 0?

The cloning lab tells you what era the clone will be.
