Dutch Warmblood Characteristic Bloodline Starters
  • Hello everyone!

    Stopping in to post I have some very lovely Dutch Warmblood horses (Characteristics) I'm looking to start a breeding line with! I'm hoping to get my RE bloodline started out, as I'm still super new and learning how to play the game and tinker with genetics! I'm looking to start a DW breeding group with like minded individuals who are wanting to focus on Dutch characteristics, color, genetics, and even getting our way up to Star quality papered horses, but are willing to be patient and understanding with someone new.

    I have a few stallions (I've either bred or purchased) who seem to be doing well breeding wise, but I'm hoping to end up with some high quality studs and broods or even project lines.

    If you are interested, please let me know!

    As of right now, we have only one *Star papered stud, RE Residential Leon but has already so far produced (for me) a warmblood filly with blue papers (Which I think is good?? I'm still learning) but is throwing gorgeous colors in his foals!
  • Feel free to look through my horses (id 15073) and let me know if there's any you especially like! I can give you, say, a foal out of a mare you especially like, or send you a **star paper stallion!

  • Hi RE,

    If you want to take a look at what other players have available to breed to that also have a dutch warmblood characteristic there is a way to run a search that specifically looks for horses that have that dutch warmblood characteristic. Check near the very bottom of the search page and there is a drop down "By Breed Characteristics" and you can choose the dutch warmblood.

    Keep in mind that other players can change the breed characteristic of their horses at any time. So if you are wanting all dutch warmbloods in a pedigree, there is a chance in the future that a horse owned by another player could change their horse to something else and it would throw that off.

    Also keep in mind that as long as you own the dutch warmblood breeding characteristic, you can change any medium boned horse you own to that characteristic whether that horse has dutch warmblood parents or not. So if you find horses you like owned by another player who are medium boned, but not necessarily dutch warmbloods, they could still work for your project.

    I think of breed characteristics as more of a "what artwork" do I prefer to show on my horses? I don't really pay attention to what artwork other people have chosen when I am looking to breed to horses owned by other players.

    Here is a great example. This foal was born in my stable.

    Sire is a Loarwenn Warmblood with the National Medium Breed Characteristic

    Dam is a National Cob with the National Heavy Breed Characteristic

    My foal can't inherit the Loarwenn breed, because I do not own that breed.
    My foal didn't inherit the National breed because I am an upgraded member and I have my own default breed for foals that can't inherit another breed.
    So my foal inherited my default "Ramshornican" breed. I have my breed settings that any Ramshornican babies are Dutch Warmbloods. So this foal shows that breed characteristic, even though neither parent had that breed or breed characteristic.

  • Thank you so much for the help, both of you, that really helps!
  • As far as your blue papered filly which came from your *Star stallion. Whether she is a "good" or "bad" result depends on what her dam was like.

    Compared to her sire, Blue is worse than *Star. But if her dam is yellow or red papered, blue is better than yellow or red. So she could be an improvement compared to her dam depending on what her dam was.

    "good" horses or "bad" horses really is looking more at where does the horse sit in relation to its parents and are you getting closer to your particular goal or farther away from your particular goal?

    If you are going for the best breeding horses possible, you want your horses to be getting better paper levels.

    Stallions from worst to best paper level wise:
    Showable Only < C < B < A < *Star < **Star < ***Star

    Mares from worst to best paper level wise:
    Failed < Yellow < Red < Blue < *Gold < **Gold < ***Gold

    When comparing stallions to mares:
    Showable Only is equal to failed
    C = Yellow
    B = Red
    A = Blue
    *Star = *Gold
    **Star = **Gold
    ***Star = ***Gold

  • That actually helps me a lot, thank you!!
