I was just wondering if anyone would be interested if I started to plan a GE 2.0 because I know it’s a favorite, especially for me. And it was really sad to see it won’t be running anymore.

I do currently have ideas on how people will get an anonymous gifter/giftee (and a form in case feedback is needed), but I’m just now realizing the hard part of gifting the actual items - while remaining anonymous.

I’m not sure still, it’s just an idea floating in the air right now. We do have RAoG still so that could be a plus. But this is totally me rambling on right now.

I do have other ideas though, like running a monthly game (Like Poppidoll on Forest) and having sponsors, but probably not for the next few months just so I can plan it all out and get everything organized with all my horses (but yet again, none of these ideas are set in stone).

I guess I’m asking if anyone would actually participate, if I were to spend some of my time planning it?

(Also if anyone has any fun game ideas that you would love to see actually made and played on the server, comment those too! I like getting an idea of what people like to play, in case I randomly organize another mini contest in the upcoming weeks)

for anonymously gifting, “elves” for everyone and everything could work, but that would be very complicated. It would all probably be complicated. I’d like to know what they did before the GE was created.

I may be the party pooper here, but
I prefer the random acts of giving to the gift exchange itself and probably would not participate in a member led version.

I'm interested in hearing more about this poppidoll game from forest?

I joined just before the official GE started but not in time to participate in the original secret santa. From what I remember even though "unofficial" it was mostly run by Confluence (old moderator) which meant access to posting annoucements and chats. There were multiple levels similar to official exchange and entries submitted and assignments sent all via PM. People signed up to be elves and sales were all done in chats, but I'm not sure about how anonymity was handled.

I was also sad about the official exchange ending, but I think trying to do a player run version would honestly be a mess.

Poppidoll is a member on Forest that is running monthly shows where members post horses in different categories (i.e. size, weight, era ) and awards are given out based on a few different criteria (i.e. PT, points, earnings, popular vote). No maxing or boosted horses allowed. I could go search for the original post and copy it here if anyone's interested?

Just a warning if I totally butcher this quick summary of Poppidoll’s game.

Anyways they’ve seem to be doing it for every month for new players on Forest. The monthly contest goes by the name, “Ammy Awards.”
In there most recent post of the game they have made a custom tattoo for any and all of the previous winners and their horses. The awards mostly consist of Hbs, straws/eggs/embryos, and/or horses to help New Players. Most of the prizes I do believe are handled by sponsors of the game, but I’m not 100% sure. I’m also not sure if people with “older” accounts may participate but if I make a custom game similar to this I might add it to be inclusive.

I would change it up to not be copying what they do, but it totally inspires me.

Anyways, I thought it was better to quote what Poppi said;
“ To enter, simply reply to the monthly thread for your horse's body type with a linked image of your horse (found on the bottom of each horse's page) and the category you wish to compete in: Highest PT or Highest Monthly Points Earned.
Note that Highest PT horses should be less than 2 years old.
Each horse you enter must be in its own post.
Please include your ID number in your posts.

Spectators, you play a role too! "Like" the horse(s) you like best to contribute to our "Best In Show" Categories!

The Rules:
Horses and their parents must not be maxed or boosted.
All entries must have been bred or created by their exhibitor.
Competitors can only win up to 2 awards per category.
Must have less than 36 top 10 LB placements in the last 12 months.
Must have less than 6 top 3 most points earned in the last 12 months.
Must have less than 3 top 3 highest PT in the last 12 months.
Must have no top 3 stallions or mares in the last 24 months on leaderboards.
Futurity award winners are allowed, and futurity awards do not count towards the above restrictions.
Backwards awards do not count towards the above restrictions.

Awards close on the 21st of each month.
Awards will be announced by the 28th.”

I think that sounds interesting. I would support something like that if you were interested in running something inspired by that. I know lots of older players are interested in donating to help out.

It does seem like a mess but I do love a challenge.

Okay, that’s a bit cringy, but I do have the time, unlike others, that could allow for me to give the needed amount to plan such a large event. I can get where I might hit a problem since most people running these larger contests and games have a premium upgrade.

I just want to repeat that this was just an idea in the air, and I felt like I should learn everyone’s thoughts before diving into something that could potentially backfire against me.

@RamshornSportHorses Thank you! Your response gave me the confidence to start a new game for the Mesa server. It’ll be a bit before I can get to actually planning it, but I would love your feedback when I do start :)

The futurity swap game has been well supported for several months now. So I think if someone wants to put the planning and time in, something new could be successful too!

Once you work out the kinks they get a lot easier to run. I copy and paste the post from last month to start the new futurity swap game each month. Saves me a ton of time with just a little editing!

The reason the game (I) picked up the GE is because it simply was not sustainable and did not work that well as a player-run thing. Part of the collapse of the game GE was that a lot of people really just preferred the RAoG format. While I won't stop you from running a player GE I caution you that I doubt it would work amazingly. The suggestion to run games instead seems like a better time and energy investment.

@AmberHaven300 if you go with the player run game, I can definitely sponsor prizes in the form of pixel ponies. I have a lot of 2 year olds that end up in auction, numbers wise I have 151 2 year olds this season. Mind you thats the entire group of stallions, gelded and not, and mares, spayed and not. It also is my complete mix of normal horses and fantasy gene horses. What I'm saying is that instead of that number mostly ending up being sent into the void, it can be turned towards your game.

I’m gonna drop the idea of hosting a player-run GE, and start focusing on a monthly game instead. I’m sure that when the season comes back around that if only a few players want to, the group could host their own little secret Santa exchange. But I really do feel like this idea of only focusing on a planning a monthly game would be much easier on me instead of planning the entire GE.

I can help donate HBs. Sometimes during the week, only get enough time to make a quick
check in here and there but am more than willing to help out any way I can.

I’ll start planning out the layout of the game this weekend but it’ll be a bit to get everything set down. When I’m close to actually starting the game I’ll make a public post for anyone interested in being a sponsor of the game. I would comment on that post (when it comes out) because I have horrible memory and might miss someone who offered on here :) Thanks y’all!

Here's a though that just tickled my brain if anyone feels like running with it. What about planning a mentoring program for new players? New players would comment to sign up and an older player could respond and become their "mentor" temporarily for their first month or two. The mentor can provide gifts, knowledge, an HB donation whatever.
