Happy holidays! Happy GE!
I joined back in October, and am currently experiencing my first ever GE. I've been excited since the registration. I got the email on my giftee a little after lunch and was very shocked to open HAJ and was met with the notice that it was closed 8-X. Yes, it was my first time and I thought the site was down (due to very bad connectivity on my part.) After spending a little less of an hour panicking, I found that it was just for the rollover. Phew! #:-S It was just until 2 AM. Looking at my watch, it was nearly 1 PM which sent me to another panic. In my excitement and ensuing panic, I had forgotten that I were ahead by 13 hours. My bad. X_X

But! I have prevailed against the trials of my own stupidity, and have successfully diverted my attention to buying groceries and have returned laden with a bountiful harvest. With my spirits healed and armed with a cookie, I have successfully seen my intended recipient's wishlist and have started to brave the confusing labyrinth that is 'The Search' (dun Dun DUN!)

Also, I'm back. I'm not finished but I think I need a break, as I remembered around horse #300 that I have an exam in a few hours.

So, short update on my foray towards finding a gift, my first attempt was a deadend. To be honest, it was my fault. I just plugged in the request and hoped for the best, which (props to mesa) yielded exactly 3 horses. Tried another method which was basically plug in one gene at a time with the age, owner and breeder restrictions still the same. In hindsight was a very bad idea, as now as opposed to something specific, I now have an idea (undisputable knowledge, really) of how many horses have the silver gene, which is 78279, as it resulted in 3132 pages.

Now, that I have tried the 'SPECIFIC' and the 'LOOSE' methods. I am now a little wiser, in my subsequent trials. Also, another peek (or many) at the wishlist was very helpful. I have realized that I may have misunderstood a term and thought it to mean CHIMERAS, which might be aided with a quick search in Google and my own enthusiasm (Chimeras are awesome, and those patterns are to die for :x ). I went and scrolled through their barn and got hit by the realization that I am an idiot X_X . My next attempts have yielded a slightly lesser but no less extensive list. I might have also started to annoy my recipient with questions (this was in between the 2 methods). I'm so sorry.

Now, I have found the right combination for the gift but I am still curating it. I'm still not done looking through it but so far I've got 100 tabs and counting grouped together under the banner of GIFTS. Once I'm done with the search, I'll be culling the herd (so to speak) to which horses I might be able to afford if I gather enough courage to ask the owners' if they'd be willing to part with them.

Also, I'd like to thank my RAoG gifters that sent me gifts very early. You are the light that is guiding me to tackle the remaining 15 pages.
P.S. Is it normal to see their names? Or are the names I'm seeing are not my gifters? I'd really like to mention them but I'm worried I'm wrong.

Which brings me confusion until now. How is a Dark Chocolate HH white? And the realization that I might have misunderstood the white factor (as it is minimal but I very clearly see it as white)

People are SO nice during the GE. You'll probably find tons of people willing to sell horses for free!

It's normal to see RAoG names and yes those are your gifters.

I assume the Dark Chocolate is white because of the hom cream and champagne combined. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

And I would be careful about posting too specific things on the forum in case your giftee is on here. They might figure out who you are! :)

One thing to keep in mind is that on the 1st all horses are removed from the sales boards. In a few days people will get logged back in and start putting their horses back up for sale and you’ll find more available as you search.

Okay so I'm back. So far, I have 15 horses left to go through and my finals scattered throughout this week and the next. Also, might I mention that I love some of the horses I had to cut out :( . I want to keep atleast some of them but I need to finish looking for a gift first. Also the horses on the final 15 are soo cool.
