RS & Pointed: Would you geld or sell?
-
I have a couple of rank special horses that just don't fit my breeding plans.
A couple of them have fairly decent points, so my question is, would it make more sense to spay/geld them and have then in my show herd. Or would it be better for sell them and use the money to buy horses more suited to me?
Thank you, I'm so new at this...I honestly have no idea what I'm doing, or even how I would value them if I sold them so I'd appreciate any advice!

Really, I think it is up to you. If you need a way to get some immediate horse bucks, then selling them is a good option. If you care more about long term earnings, then I would suggest that you hang on to them.
As for how much you could sell them for… you could probably sell them for at least 30 - 50 thousand hbs - depending on what genes they have.
For example, I would pay about 50,000 or maybe even more, for Silver Birch because of her high points, nice genes, and Special Rank. Basically, any horse that has a daily payout of 45 hbs or more, can be sold for (at least) their current lifetime payout.

Hope this helps you :D
