What are your tricks to be a good gifter?
-
There is a long very good thread about wishlists and being a good gifter above (which is worthwhile reading) but I want us to chatter and get excited in a less formal way.
Help me remember what I want to do as a gifter!
All:
1) Tack horses, including backgrounds. I make a default and copy it on to each one. Go through the barn and make sure the tack fits their theme.
2) Name horses something cute or useful. I go with cute. I think about a naming scheme — If I get Lady Hawke, she’s getting Hawk themed horse names. Blue Mesa, it’s all wicked. Ammnit, cybernetics.
3) Add a note saying it’s a GE gift and I hope they like it. Add in why this horse if applicable.
I’ll also need to find helpers (flamingos) for my giftee as I don’t have fantasy genes.
If you are going to spend real money - which isn’t required - I recommend a barn early. Many people don’t have space for a GE influx of horses. If you give someone 50 rank specials where will they put it? If you don’t have cash or hbs for this, don’t stress. They’ll figure it out.
-
Also these aren’t all my ideas. I’ve had excellent gifters in the past and they’ve taught me these things. If you are trying, it is very hard to do wrong.

Ask questions! The GE chat (from gifter to giftee) is an awesome way to get clarification or to ask about something not on their list.
Also a great way to get to know each other. -
Search up the horses they own but haven’t bred to see what other lines your giftee likes; a great way to find lined horses, or to ask for straws/eggs/embryos that will match their goals.
