Okay, now what? (Era 4)
-
I can now create max quality 14 point foals at gen 8. What’s the point of gen 9? I can’t improve these horses anymore without a *** from another era and I’m not really into using outside studs in this era, so I’m not excited for that.
I’m focused on hitting 15 in 0 and 2 so I have some enthusiasm there. I’m looking at making my era 4 line even, and playing with the idea of making it not inbred.
I don’t know what to do once I’ve hit the goal. I still can work on dethroning Abhean’s gen 7 stud but since he’s at max (I trust her) and went first, none of my gen 7 studs will likely be able to do that, and all my gen eight studs are AGA my 7 (because we are at max.) Right? An at cap 8 isn’t better than an at cap 7.
Maybe I’m just grumpy because I bred 97 era 4 gen 8 last night and got 6 sba pass (2 mares) and no natural 14. If I was breeding cap to cap (like I will be for sure at 8– parts of my 7 are super close but not there) then I’d get a higher sba pass (and likely closer to 14pt). That’ll happen soon enough, cause I’m at cap. Maybe I just need coffee. But I’m feeling discouraged. I love this game but what now?
Suggestions for new goals? Or is there progress even at cap?
(This is not a complaint about the game or any part of it. This is a request for motivation and to learn about what others are working towards.)

The younger stallion always takes the LB. I am not bothering with a younger stud so if you have a 3 year old this year you will take champion spot.
ETA: Keep in mind my stud has a lot of maxed and cloned foals which does impact lb standing and you would need to push past that. But with the new maxing limits that would be a problem in the future.Sorry not currently taking any request for egg/straw/horse sales. Also SBA pass rate is always pretty low breeding cap to cap. The higher you go the smaller the numbers get and the less intact you get even with perfectly even breeding.Sorry not currently taking any request for egg/straw/horse sales. I do, I bred 45 off of him, no movement. Yours must be better. So maybe this isn’t cap, but I really think it is.
So the reason we would see a gen 8 cap overtake a gen 7 cap is because the gen 8 is likely younger? Cap is cap.
I thought cap to cap would get a higher pass rate because anything at cap passes but now I understand I’m wrong— you’d need a *** for that. So maybe my expectations are just off and a pass rate of 7% isn’t that bad. Even if it’s annoying. :) -
I edited my post but I will expand on it.
When two stallions are tied the younger stallion takes it but they have to be tied. When the older stallion has hundreds of foals that is hundreds of chances for perfect quality offspring. 10 maxed foals or 10 perfect foals because of so many offspring. Either works. Plus clones (who can have higher training ability) can also impact that and he does have an over 14 pt cloned foal.
So I don't think he is better I think his foals are still just inching out your boy because his 10 best foals are better than your studs 10 best.Sorry not currently taking any request for egg/straw/horse sales. Everything I have for sale is already listed. -
Personally I am wrapping up my era 4 breeding line. I'll still boost into it from era 5 and era 6, and will still have plans for the foundation and 2nd gen boards in the future, but mostly I am moving on to other projects on Forest server.Sorry not currently taking any request for egg/straw/horse sales. Yeah, I sort of agree. Era 4 and racing you was lovely but it feels like the race is over. I should have gone hard in 5 and 6 but I didn’t understand.
I’m left with a big bag of now what. I don’t know what I want my next project to be but this month’s breeding taught me I needed one. -
This moment should be lining up with it being the primary era award which would help it feel like a satisfying ending. Things are a bit funny right now with the primary eras shifting. Should be a different vibe next month with era 5 starting to wrap up.

I think it would help to identify where your joy in the game comes from. If it's from seeing a line progress and working towards a goal it sounds like it might be time to start a new project.
It doesn't mean that you can't keep a handful of Era 4 favorites around and pad your show string. A reliable string of CAP x CAP foals every year would be awesome for your show barn.Ramshorn Ranch

Personally I've decided that my Bolster line is going to continue just to see how it does with the horses showing. The line is cap so I'm interested in seeing how well it does with showing.
After however long I've been playing, I've really decided that only one or two projects at a time is really worth my time. That way I'm not overwhelmed.
I have other breeds I created and projects that I'll resurrect at some point but for now breeding Era 1 show horses and focusing on Era 7 is where I'm at.
