Gene expression — what is making this “grey”?
-
Hi, all. What is causing this ghost-like grey on this horse? It’s almost like something is overlaid on top of the sabino.
Thanks!

That's KP! :)
-
I know KP causes cascading white failures but I didn’t expect the ghost effect!
-
Yeah very common for horses that are hom KP and hom kit genes! Here are a few of mine. Most of them show a ghost patch of some sort! :)

Me: Black, sabino, satin and kit. Sounds like Laak.

Amazing!
Really cool colt. :)
Sorry not currently taking any request for egg/straw/horse sales. Everything I have for sale is already listed. -
Ah yeah, both parents are hom for it but they both have minimal white factor which is why it doesn’t express on them as strongly as their baby with a slightly larger white factor. :)
A couple years ago (on the Forest server I think) there was a trend of breeding for roaned-out horses with kp, but rerolling their portraits until the pattern would resemble the “bloody shoulder” marking that sometimes occurs on flea-bitten greys. -
I sometimes will reroll my homozygous KP and Homozygous KIT stallions and mares to see if I can get a KP marking that I like better. I call it the "KP Cloud".Ramshorn Ranch
