Site Timing Out
  • For some reason, I have not been able to open the Mesa or Firest servers since the rollover. I went to a store today and used their wifi. We have tried turning off router, reset the router to default, turned on and off firewall and antivirus, and cannot seem to make these two sites go through our Comcast internet. Any suggestions?

  • Try flushing your DNS and clearing your cache. Mesa and Forest share an IP address so if you have issues with your DNS server on one it is likely to hit the other. Also, try rebooting your actual device not just the router.

  • We will try these ideas. We have rebooted my computer several times. I will let you know if this works. Thanks.

  • It sounds like a DNS issue. It's when your internet provider has corrupted instructions on how to reach the site. They can be frustrating to fix but there are lots of instructions online on how to flush DNS.

  • I flushed the DNS using the command prompt, as well as powershell. I also went into chrome into the DNS lookup and looked up the website and clicked the necessary buttons and still no change. I rebooted computer after each change. Any other ideas?

  • DNS issues are notoriously a PITA to resolve. They always do over time but it can take days to weeks for them to self-correct. You can only correct it yourself if the issue is with your local setup. If the problem lies with the provider you won't be able to correct it.

  • So I did ping tests using either the site name or the IP address, and both timed out. The ping test "ping -a 64.34.186.72" brought up a completely different site name, which was acropora.pomacanthuspub. com. of course, that site does not open . I am still working on it.

  • Yup, that's a corrupted DNS record for sure. Maybe the universe wants you to give up on horses and get into salt water fish keeping.
