Perfectly Awful Questions for Ammit
-
Very excited for getting Perfectly Awful rolling! Now that I have the first batch of foals, how is comparison and testing work, as well as maxing and boosting?
Is the coding designed that if a horse is superior, does that mean they are More awful or Less awful than their parent? Will maxing make a horse more awful or less awful? I’ve only been culling based solely on PT at this point.
And will all Perfectly Awful fail SBA? I’ve tested a few and none have passed, don’t want to waste the GMT if they won’t pass.
Figured better ask before we get too far along with it. Thank you! -
I think everything else will stay the same. Maxing, comp testing, BA/SBA etc. Perfectly awful will always fail BA/SBA. All tests etc are made for breeding better quality, therefore if you're breeding in the opposite direction you won't want to use any of the normal means to "rate" how "good" your foals are. You would want lower PT and comp test worse than. If I understood the information on backwards breeding♡

I agree with LG; from what I understand they will always fail BA, and maxing will make them as good as possible from those parents. I would stick with comparison testing.
-
That could be amusing if instead of maxing out the foal so it is at the topmost of its inherited genetic ability, there was an option to... subtract out the foal so it is at the bottom most of its inherited genetic ability :))TheBlueMoors ID 78

Ammit has said several times that backwards breeding is more difficult than normal breeding where you're trying to increase ability. Because the game inherently is built to assist you in identifying the better foals. All testing, maxing, etc. is built to select for better animals.
From what I can figure I'm planning to comparison test the foals against their parent and keep them if they are worse. I won't be using SBA or BA because they will get gelded/spayed. I am hoping the PTs will naturally come down as I am selecting the worst breeders with the comparison testing.
If you wanted to go the cheap route you could select for the lowest PTs, but since breeding ability and PT are not always identical you may end up with some keepers that are better than you could have kept.Ramshorn Ranch

And if you just got low PT you will end up with super inconsistent horses that are not actually getting worse as breeders.Sorry not currently taking any request for egg/straw/horse sales. Everything I have for sale is already listed.

This is great, thank you all!

@TheBlueMoors right?! That’s why I wondered if there was anything special behind the scenes. :D Of course with an even more devastating comment from Doris. :-))

You may be interested to know.
6 out of my 26 perfectly awful x perfectly awful foals comparison tested worse than their parent.
PTs ranged from -1.40 to +0.3
10 out of 26 comparison tested superior to their parent.
PTS ranged from -1.20 to 0.00
10 out of 26 comparison tested as good as their parent.
PTs ranged from -1.20 to +0.2
Honestly, I am surprised at how many comparison tested superior. In my normal breeding herd I would be so excited about that number.Ramshorn Ranch
