Showing levels
-
So regarding showing levels, there seems to be info missing from the FAQ. The FAQ mentions the numbers 1-8:Level 1-- Inhand (Horses are shown in a halter class, not ridden)
Level 2 -- Green under saddle (horses are being ridden, but not jumped)
Level 3 -- Green over fences (horses are now ready to be jumped)
Level 4 -- Training (horses are being schooled to improve the height and complexity of the jumps)
Level 5 -- C Level (more difficult, higher jumps)
Level 6 -- B Level (even higher jumps and more complex patterns of jumps)
Level 7 -- A Level (increasing difficult of jump courses)
Level 8 -- Grand Prix (the highest, most complex jump courses, done by the most talented horses and riders. A horse would have to be competing at this level to qualify for the Olympics in Show Jumping, for instance.)
but I can't find any info on the second part of the showing level. The Local, Regional, National, World. How do these factor into a horse's showing level?
Is a horse at 7R earning more points/HB than a horse at 4W?
How does this part relate to a horse's PT? For example, I have two horses, same age. One is 3W with a PT of 7.30, and the other is 5L with a PT of 10.40. Not sure what to make of this.
Cheers! -
A horse starts at the very lowest showing level, and as it grows and trains it moves up the levels as its show score increases.
As the levels increase, the points awarded per show increase.
A horse with a higher PT will generally train faster and longer than a horse with a lower PT. So say for example you have two foals that are born the same year. One has a PT of 9.9 and one has a PT of 11.3. The 9.9 horse might cap out its showing ability somewhere around age 9 at level 6R, but the 11.3 PT horse might cap out its showing ability somewhere around age 11 at level 8W. So more than likely the 11.3 PT horse will accumulate more points during its lifetime since it was able to reach the higher levels, and reach them more quickly than the lower PT horse. Making the 11.3 PT horse more profitable over its lifetime.Ramshorn Ranch
