does anyone play red dead redemption 2?
-
i like the horses obviously but i wish there were an easier way to add different types of horses
-
I haven't played in about a year but what an amazing game <3 Most realistic horse movement in my opinion, I was really impressed. I also ran into a lot of trees and tripped over a lot of rocks early on haha
-
I did play and finish the main storyline of the game probably about 2 years ago. My xbox has been packed for about a year now due to a move, and building a new house.
I really did enjoy the horse riding aspects of the game. Very realistic compared to "horsey" games I played in the past. Unfortunately horsey games don't seem to be around much anymore.
I also enjoyed the horses in some of the earlier Assassins Creed games if you ever played any of those. I can't remember which ones for sure I played. That was clear back in high school when I still lived with my brother and he was super into Assassins Creed. We won't mention how long ago that was. Lol.Ramshorn Ranch

oh yeah there was one where you could ride instead of fast travel, I think it was AC 1.

sorry to double post... The horse animations in RDR2 are totally better than others but it still feels like
1- the horses don't look like they have any weight or momentum to them. like their legs all move but i don't get the sensation that they are PUSHING off the ground. Maybe it's an uncanny valley situation for me. It's still not quite right.
2- the animations IMO look best on the Morgan/smaller model, and look a little off on the larger models. It's understandable that they probably designed one animation and scaled it up but don't look quite right to me
I'm ready for the next step up in horse games... RDR2 was a huge production though and I doubt anyone would put that kind of money toward developing a game completely focused on horses. maybe once i get rich I'll have one custom made lol -
I just got into console gaming semi recently and downloaded this over the weekend because of this thread and I'm having a blast! On chapter 3 now and just went and tamed the "white" Arabian as my newest favorite mount! Thanks for posting :x
-
I remember a buckskin colored horse that you couldn't purchase until late the in game in one of the more expensive cities. I remember that one as being my preferred mount for the remainder of the game. You get strangely attached to the little buggers even though they are not real!Ramshorn Ranch

Maybe it was the "Turkoman" horse? it was one of the faster ones.
I loved a dun mustang I caught wild myself and definitely felt weird later on when i had to decide to sell it to make room for a faster mount -
If you decide to play again this pretty girl is apparently the best wild horse. Saves some of those precious dollars and she's super quick after a few level ups! Just bugs me that they say she is white and not gray :))

Also I accidentally stole a really pretty tobiano early on and ended up having to pay a bounty for her, but totally worth it =)) -
Efalater, Turkoman sounds right. That was probably it!
I was aware that the arabian was the best horse in the game. Not intending to offend anyone, but I am kind of biased against arabian and "white" colored horses in real life. So I just was a stinker and didn't care to ride one around in the game. It's a good strategy though to save money!
If I did go back and play again I would try to do it as a villain instead of good guy. I have a feeling I wouldn't be a very good bad guy though!Ramshorn Ranch

I'd be up for a H&J group trail ride on Red Dead Online just sayin!
-
I have accidentally been a villain through a stolen horse and taking out some poor chap with the wagon and my bad steering but not intentionally lol. I am currently replaying Hogwarts Legacy as a villain through and it's been a fun adventure so far >:)
Is an online trail ride an option? I have only played story mode so far! -
Online is a whole new world :) Rockstar let it die sadly so we that played from beta have done all the things, but as a new player you'll be set for a long time with new to you content. It's a huge sandbox to play in too so trail rides can definitely be an option! I'm on PS4 with it I guess that would be the biggest issue, no cross platforms.
-
Ah yeah I have an Xbox X - bummer! But I'm excited to check it out regardless!!

I'm surprised Rockstar hasn't stuck with the online platform for RDR2. It seemed like they were promoting it hard.Ramshorn Ranch
