Has anyone had any luck breeding medicine hat horses? It looks like splash tobiano with extensive white is a good place to start but it seems like it always leaves a colored patches on the neck plus the ears instead of just the ears.

You've got the war bonnet and the shield. The only issue I see is that little bit of color around the eye. Other than that, you have a medicine hat right there.

I think the frame overo gene actually adds the colored patches around the eyes. Just a trend I noticed... I should try for splash tobiano without frame.

This is the closest I have without frame, though it appears he didn’t quite put his bonnet on straight. :))

cool! maybe the homozygous splash gives extra coverage which is a plus
