hidden genes
-
Are there hidden genes for example
- how light/dark shaded (on top of sty/dp/etc)
- how predisposed to dapples (again on top of dp/silver/etc)
- whether horses without white spotting genes have small socks/stripes
- whether horses tend more reddish or more brownish (again on top of dp) -
I do not know if there are hidden genes that influence appearance in the game. I do know that many genes do have an element of randomness to them.
One way to get an idea on if a particular look that you like is random or not, is to pay for total "new image seed" redo of a horse's portrait. You can find this under the control panel on a horse's page.
So for example: If my horse had dapples before the new image seed, but has no dapples after the new image seed, then the dapples are most likely being randomly influenced. If a horse has high white socks before the new image seed, and still has high white socks after the new image seed, then most likely the presence of high white socks is not random.
I do know for sure that if you are looking for high white socks and big face stripes you will have better chances with horses that have W20 for one of their KIT genes, and horses that have a larger White Factor in their genotype. Both of those genes influence socks and facial markings.
