If you put a horse up for sale and add it to the auction, it will no longer be able to be purchased for sale. It can only be purchased in the auction, even if the auction isn't running yet.

Your pointed horses will usually sell for approximately half of their lifetime payout. This can increase if it's a rank special or sought after herd helper. Some of the highly prized rank specials that may appear in June/December or occasionally at other times of the year will sell for significantly more. Sale prices can fluctuate so you can check the sales boards to see what other people are selling for if you think yours might be too high or too low.

Building a show herd really is the best way to make in game money but established players are usually willing to buy horses in with points so if you're strapped for cash you can try selling horses to build up a nest egg before you get to the 20,000 point limit. Since Ammit increased the points on created horses you can probably make a decent amount of HBs selling pointed horses now to help you get started.

Don't forget to drop into the thread where you can sell any horse for 50,000 hbs. It's a one time deal that each new person can do and it's always running.
