Brown horses

    TRying to make brown horses on here has always confused me a bit, I've got some that are EE tt and still show up as bay even though tt is supposed to help with them being brown? is brown also dependant upon Sooty or DP?

    I'm not certain, but I think they need to have at least 1 DP gene.

    No, they don't need DP, it's all to do with extension and agouti (EE and AA and the various combinations), I think. Lemme see what @Ammit says. (I LOVE the browns, but love the livers more!)

    Looking at it there looks to be at least one copy of sooty on all my brown horses, so I'm thinking it's probably linked to that and I was just missing that bit of info before. I'll try adding sooty to my bay horse and let ya'll know how it turns out.

    E AA no sooty horses do not look brown so they are not called brown. Brown is really an appearance, not a specific gene. (The gene has been disproven)
