I have herds on all 3 servers but I am most attached to my Mesa herd. Since Bluegrass will be closing for new registrations to drive players to Mesa, I'm very excited to see more people join up here! I thought it would be fun to do a giveaway for new people.

The giveaway is limited to brand new players who do not have an account on any other server- please, be honest, we're going on your word. New accounts created between today and 4/15/22 can enter the drawing and I will randomly select 2 winners to give a bootstrap stallion from my breeding next month. All of my horses are drafts so if anyone else wanted to offer up additional bootstrap horses for the giveaway that would be awesome! I'm also hoping someone knows where to find one of the really good bootstrap explanation threads to link for us to so the new players understand what these horses are for.

To enter, please leave a message below stating that you are new and want to enter the giveaway, and tell us what your favorite thing is (not necessarily about the game or horses, just your favorite thing at all). That's it!

I don't have any bootstrap herds any more. I have all Cobs on this server. I am willing to put up a yearling foundation Ostrara for this give away. All test are done. They can use it for their herd or sell it and make a little money off of it. If your OK with that.

I joined in Feb and what a cool idea for new players! Im only on this server but Ive been trying to understand bootstrapping. And now I feel like maybe someone can help me understand. Im looking forward to that link of boostrapping 101! Thanks for posting, Ill be watching :)

Nice to have you! I'll try to find a link later. Bluegrass and Forest have had some good discussions on it before. If we don't get any/enough entries I'll be expanding the entry criyeria so keep watching in case you qualify to enter later!

Since we haven't received any entries yet I'm going to open this up to anyone who has created a new account on Mesa in 2022 without an established account on Bluegrass.

Hey all! I’m SUPER new (just joined today) and am still a bit confused on what exactly bootstrapping is? I read the link and understood some of the process, but still don’t fully understand the “what” of it all.

@NurffysBarn What’s an Ostara? I’d be more than happy to take on a new addition.

I’m only generating 464 hbs daily so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks for being such a welcoming group!

Welcome! There are horses called rank specials that have combinations of genes that aren't found in most of the regular created horses in game. Ostara is one of those. She has 2 snowflake genes that show up with appaloosa and it's very rare to find it in created horses. This is the horse in question.

Give away Filly

Bootstrapping is where you take a really high level stallion and breed him with created mares to rapidly increase the breeding ability and scores of your horses. Having a large herd of show horses is the best way to go. It doesn't feel that way when you're new but it will all make sense as you build up your herd. I make about 300,000 hbs per day on this server on my show herd. My best advice is that while you're getting started and space to house horses is a problem, train and show all of your breeding mares. That way they will do double duty for you as show horses and breeding horses and you won't need double the barn and pasture space to hold 2 separate herds.

@pinkie3 thanks for the explanations, very informative and helpful, that makes a lot of sense. Do you have any advice on ratios of stallions/breeding mares/altered show horses? I’m having trouble deciding on who to keep.

Pinkie I haven't posted a horse for sale in a chat in a long ti,time, I am having trouble getting it posted in the chat for AshfordAcres. I used the horses name for for the ID and put 1 in the price box in buddy chat area and it won't post it for her. Please help lol

It should be the horse's number rather than the name and then it should work.

Thank you both for everything! I’m really enjoying this game, but it definitely seems tough when starting out. I wish there were more hbs incentives when starting out so new newbies can buy some quality stock. Your contribution is really going to help me out!
