Just curious!

How does one come up with a line name or an acronym for their lines or individual stallions? I have some foundation stallions I would like to add acronyms to for their offspring so I can keep track of who came from where. I'm just not quite sure where to start.

I pick themes for the lines I have- could be related to their genome, desired physical appearance, book series. I then come up with an overall 1-2 word name for each line and slap The before the word(s) and Project after. Wah-la! Line name and acronym right there!
Take my line of liver mushrooms for example. Since the focus is on breeding mushrooms and all the keeper studs are named after species of mushrooms, it was easy to come up with Fungi to encompass the overall theme and that is how I have The Fungi Project (TFP) and all my horses that come from that line have TFP on their name. I also sort them by generation and ID number. Only 1 intact stud per generation is kept so that one will have naming like "3G Lions Mane TFP". Mares and colts that will be turned into mares have their generation, ID, and TFP (2G ID # TFP). I can then do a barn/pasture search by generation and sort through each generation as I need.
I also have The Dr Seuss Project (TDSP). Like above, only intact breeding studs receive an actual name (title of one of his books) with generation and TDSP while mares have _G ID # TDSP. Dr Seuss was a favorite of mine growing up so that is how I got that.
The Tiny Horse Project (TTHP) is self explanatory. I took the physical appearance of what I want my ponies to look like and used that.
TCP is The Celestial Project and studs are named after the constellations. Their emphasis is dilutions so they are "glittery and light".
Keep in mind, each line has its own very strict and specific color genomes/qualifications so even if I don't label the horse, I can look at its genome and tell exactly what line it descended from based on its genetics.
Hope this helps!

Sometimes I will just pick a word or name that in like and name the stud that, then every foal gets that in their name plus something addedcl to it. All of my chinchilla studs are named after the bunny in my profile picture on all 3 servers. On other lines the site has a name and the offspring are just named by their generation, paper level and what notable genes they carry.Thanked by 1amgr1992

Mines similar to these. They start with the line they're in, so PD is Painted Drafts (my white 8 line), SN is my snowflake cob line, and WL is my watercolor lace line. The foundations always get a name I come up with - the watercolor lace line is song titles for some reason. After foundation, they get a word from the sires name and a random word after. So, for example, PD Guts and Glory is one of my foundation w8 studs. The second gen stud I kept from him is named PD Glorys Tiger. All his offspring are PD Tigers -. At the end of each name, I put paper level and generation, so like Bl2G - blue, second generation.
My M&M line is the one off from that - they're all named after sweet stuff. -
Thank you guys! I breed fantasy genes to see how much I can mix and match and what looks cool! I'm only breeding starting with c/yellow foundations on this account so its one huge line. Maybe I'll name it The Fantasy Line (TFL) and then name the stallions fantasy names related to stars/dragons/elves etc!
